After a brief period working for a marketing firm in 1992 and 1993 in Barcelona, Spain, Bas started his career in corporate and trust management working for Citco Curacao NV.

Initially he spent 5 years between the Curacao and Aruba offices in various positions, after which he relocated to the Cayman Islands to become general manager for the corporate and trust office of Citco Cayman. Thereafter he relocated to the British Virgin Islands to become general manager of Citco BVI Ltd and in 2004 he relocated to Curacao as managing director of Citco Curacao NV. Since December 2010 Bas is general manager of ANT Management Curacao NV.

Bas holds a law degree of Erasmus University of Rotterdam, he is married and has 2 children.
