Hugo holds a Masters Degree in Tax law from the University of Leiden, The Netherlands. He also attended and completed various courses in Netherlands Antilles tax law, as well as courses on Compliance and anti-Money laundering.

He has over 15 years of professional experience having worked for companies such as Ernst & Young in the Netherlands, Curaçao and Aruba and Curaçao International Trust Company (CITCO) in the Netherlands Antilles. He was Managing Director for N.M.T. Curaçao N.V. a company which later merged with Amicorp. Following this merger in 2007 Hugo joined Amicorp Curaçao office as Managing Director for Amicorp Curaçao N.V. and Amicorp Fund Services N.V. He currently forms part of the Management Team of the Amicorp Curaçao office.

Hugo is a member of several professional associations: The Association of verified Anti-Money Laundering specialists (ACAMS), Netherlands Antilles Association of Lawyers, and he is a CIFA Board member (Curacao International Financial Services Association). He has also served as a part time lecturer for Dutch and Antilles tax law at DOC educational institution in Curaçao.
