Walter (1971) made his entry into the Curaçao international financial sector in 2008, when he became CFO at Fortis Bank & Trust. Until then, he had a military career as an officer in the Royal Netherlands Navy, which led to operational assignments on three frigates and to various policy-making and audit positions. His last position as a navy officer was CFO and General Secretary of the Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard, from 2004 to 2007.
Walter has a master degree in business administration and accounting from the Royal University of Groningen. Furthermore, he is a Dutch CPA (“registeraccountant”) and a certified IT auditor (CISA).
After the split of Fortis Curaçao into MeesPierson bank and Intertrust early 2010, Walter became CFO of Intertrust Curacao and Intertrust Cayman Islands. As a board member, he is also responsible for the areas of Human Resources and IT. Besides that, he manages his own client portfolio.
Walter is chairman of the board of the private high school Vespucci College, part-time teacher of courses in the accounting field and active member of the charity association Round Table Curaçao.
